More pictures and Traveling Tuesdays

I really hope you don't get tired of more pictures of our trip to Washington DC but it was such an incredibly awesome trip that I just can't help posting more plus I want to join with Sandi at whistlestopcooking for Traveling Tuesdays. I think most of these pictures speak for themselves. Our group's mission was to go to Washington DC to pray for our country. Yes we did see the sights but we also prayed with our congressman and senator and also at every building or memorial we went to. Our Country desperately needs prayer right now. I have even included an engraving on a wall that has a quote from Thomas Jefferson. So cool.
Of course, going to DC this time of year, you can't leave out the Cherry Blossoms. They were every where. Some were white, some were pink. This one was so beautiful I couldn't resist a closeup.
AND...last but not least, we ate one night at the famouse Carmine's Restaurant. This salad was amazing and fed six of us.

Trip pictures

More on our Mission DC trip. As I said earlier, we were in DC for prayer for our nation, passing out prayer stickers, cards and performing dramas in front of national monuments. We usually got good repsonses but occassionally we got responses that were pretty angry.

Also, we meet with our congressman and senator. That was such a great experience. We had the opportunity to pray for them and with them. Congressman Womack actually took time to spent about two hours with us taking us to the floor of the House where we actually got to sit in the front row. Then we walked just a short distance, he opened the door and we stepped out on the private balcony of the Speaker of the House....right above the landing where the presidential inaguaration takes place. I was so overwhelmed. It was totally amazing.
Next we entered a small room that is a private prayer room for the members of Congress. This small stained glass window was in this room. Totally amazing.

Washington DC

We just got back today from a week long trip to our nation's capital and what a week is was. I'll be posting pictures in the next couple of days. We took a group of young adults on this trip to pray for our leaders, our country and the very foundations and morals we hold so dear. We met with our congressman, prayed for him and met with our senator and prayed with him as well. We prayed from the steps of the Capital, from the Supreme Court building. We had a drama team that performed a short drama in front of the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Memorial. We also passed out stickers and information cards. On the stickers it simply said "Praying for America" 2 Chronicles 7:14. We didn't have any agenda or issue we wanted to promote just asking people to pray for America and let God take care of the rest. We had all kinds of responses from very angry to very much support. Jessica was passing out some stickers and cards when one man told her no thank you that he was an atheist. Jessica said ok well God bless you and he responded ....you too. I don't think he realized what he was saying. Oh well, maybe it will make him think.

Water's Edge

One of my favorite things to do is read. This has been a lifelong hobby of mine and now I get to do it for free sometimes. I review books for BookSneeze and I have now got another book ready to review. It is Robert Whitlow's Water's Edge.

Tom Crane has lost his job, his girlfriend, his cat and his father. Water’s Edge tells the story of this young lawyer who seems to have lost everything and how the decisions he must now make change the course of his life. He goes back to his hometown to close down his father’s law practice and makes some big discoveries regarding his father’s death.
I am drawn to legal thrillers especially when they are faith based. This is my first read of any of Robert Whitlow’s books and I am ready for another one.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Great market

I am so excited, we had a great sale at the Fort Smith Flea Market today. There were tons of people there and we sold a lot of cool vintage and painted items. We will be going "junkin'" again soon to restock. That is the most fun part of this whole thing. We have also changed our business name from More Than Sisters to Junkin' for Joy. I am so excited and we had so much fun. Here are pictures from our booth today but most of it is gone...sold...that's right...SOLD! Whoo Hoo!!!!

Whew!!!

What a week we just finished. J&K went on a cruise with K's parents and left the boys with us for 10 days. Wow! They are great little boys, hardly ever cry (I mean why would you when you get just about everything you ask for), sleep great and all night. But they are young boys! And I'm an old lady. Yes I did raise four kids of my own with two of them being boys but that was thirty years ago. Wow! Again what a week. I loved it though. I love being with my two boys, playing, making sand castles, baking cookies, reading, coloring, going to the park and so many other things. We did go to Pizza Warehouse...twice, and went to see Veggie Tales Live. As my mother always said, "God knew what he was doing having us raise our children when we are young." We might have more wisdom being older or maybe not but we sure don't have the energy for it. Love those boys.

Getting ready for our flea market

I am posting a picture of a desk we repainted and a matching chair we painted and recovered. Also a sample of the pillows we will have for sale. All of the furniture seen here in the last few posts is for the booth at our local flea market that my sisters and I will be at. We are so excited to do this. If you are close by, come see us and if you mention you saw this on my blog, I will give you an extra 5% off of any one item in our booth. Hope to see you there.
