We don't usually get this kind of snow this early in December but if we believe the Farmer's Almanac and the persimmons, we will probably have much more of this stuff this year. I don't mind the snow part. In fact, I love snow and snow days but I really don't like the ice that so much of the time comes before we get snow. The ice causes so much damage with trees and electrical lines. Thankfully, we only lost power for 12 hours this year unlike some other years when it was out for days unending. So thankful for the hard working people at the electric companies. Lots of major branches down, may even have to take out that tree.
On the brighter side of this storm, the boys had a great time outside and I think we had a great time inside too. We had a lot of time together, playing games, watching movies, trying to roast hotdogs in the fireplace (didn't work), building tents.
You know, sometimes the holidays can be very stressful with everyone trying to spend time with this side of the family and that side of the family. I never really had to deal with that because my in-laws didn't do Thanksgiving and always had Christmas on Christmas Eve and my parents did Thanksgiving and Christmas on Christmas day. So easy but I always felt kind of sad for Gary's folks because I thought OK now what do you do on Christmas day? They were alone. I never wanted to be those people that didn't have family around at that day. And I still don't. With one of my kids now married with kids, we struggle with trying to all get together. And even though we all live in the same house and get to see each other all the time, it's just not the same on a holiday. I still want to have our holidays together. I'm sure all families do BUT enough. On to other things.
We have our tree up. We put it up on Thanksgiving morning, never happened before. Wasn't going to do much Black Friday shopping but of course, we ended up going after all. Now on to Christmas and hopefully a little peacefulness.
I bought a new tree this year and I so love it. It is going to look so good in our new house. I can't wait to get our house built and get moved in. It can't come soon enough, although I am going to miss all the activity with so many people in the house.
Crazy Thanksgiving Day pictures from our little monster and his older brother, a Bieber look-alike.
Yes the leaves are brown and down, but the skies really aren't gray, at least not today. We had a great fall day today. I got outside with the leaf blower and blew a major portion of the leaves in our yard over to the side yard so they would then blow with the wind into the field. Our house is surrounded on three sides by fields. The leaves were so deep, it was hard to walk and you really couldn't see where to walk. So it was time to get them gone. I found all kinds of toys, shoes, some of the kids play dishes all under these leaves. When I got them into a big pile, the boys got out there and had some fun in them. Of course it helped that I wanted them too so I could take pictures.
I am a child of the King, wife to the best husband in the world, mom of four wonderful children and one great daughter-in-law, Nana to the three cutest little boys and one beautiful little girl. We have a wonderful life. Who ever would have thought that I could have all of this.
