Vacation time
What a week we have had. One of the best vacations our family has ever taken. We rented a house at Dauphin Island, collected sea shells (lots of them), rode bikes, built sand castles, played with the grandsons, watched dolphins jump and play. But the best part of the entire vacation was just being together on a beautiful beach provided by a wonderful God.

Where were you?
When major events in history occur, people always ask "Where were you when..." such as where were you when President Kennedy was shot or where were you went John Glen landed on the moon (I know, I'm really showing my age now.) Well, where were you when 9/11 happened? Me? I was on my way to work when hubs called to tell me a plane had flown into one of the World Trade Center buildings. Oh, that's terrible I thought, thinking it was probably some kind of single-engine airplane. Not much news on it. When I got to work, we turned the TV on and saw it was much more than that. We were glued to the TV and actually watched the second plane hit the second building. I was horrified. My kids were scattered around: one in Tulsa, one in college in Russellville, one in college here and one in college at Henderson. My first instinct was to call all of them and MAKE them come home at once. I had to gather my chicks home. I didn't get them home but I did call all of them. My sister did go to the schools and gathered her chicks home but then they were still in public school so she could do that. I think a lot of parents did that. We stayed glued to the TV for days and days. Nothing like this had ever happened in our lifetime. That event in history changed our lives and I pray nothing like this ever happens to our country again. So that's where I was.........where were you?

Dark Clouds
What a storm! Big storm blew in this evening and I do mean BLEW! We were just getting home from dinner and that wind came up, leaves flying through the air, parts of trees being blown down. Not sure how high the wind was but heard it reported that it was around 50 mph. Whew! Next came the rain and then God's promise.......the prettiest rainbow you could ever imagine. Aren't we blessed to have a God that paints such a beautiful picture.
Blew the kids fort over.

Practicing
Our family is going to the beach in a few weeks so in preparation for that I just happen to find the boys a basket that had sand castle building toys. I also bought them extra shovels and buckets. So Noah found them in my bedroom, brought them out and we went outside to "practice" building sandcastles. They dug in the "sand" and filled the buckets and then Noah wanted to know why the dirt wasn't working to build a sandcastle. He is so stinking cute and so is his white/blonde brother. I knew I would love being a grandmother but this is way beyond that. Aren't they just the cutest!
They played for a long time and then crashed.
Aren't they just the sweetest things.
