Superman!

Jenny has always loved Superman even when she was just a very young girl. I remember as does she when she wanted Superman underwear. Well, you've got to remember that Superman underwear only came in boys undewear not girls but she didn't care. After all, it was Superman. Being the good mother that I tried to be, I just couldn't let my little girl wear boys underwear. Now the girl's underwear was Supergirl so I got those. Just call me Bad Mama because that is exactly what Jenny thought of me. How dare I get Supergirl underwear when she wanted Superman. She to this day still tells me how upset she was that she couldn't have the boys underwear. Oh well, I tried.
Jenny has transfered that love of Superman to Noah. Last week she bought him a very early birthday present. OMGosh, was he ever excited to get his very own Superman suit with a cape and not have to wear a towel for a cape anymore. He ever knows how to stand.

Laundry remodel

We just purchased a new front loading washer and dryer which now requires a much needed total laundry room remodel. I don't even remember the last time we did this but I do know it has only been one time since we built our house 34 years ago. Yes, we have lived in this house for 34 years, raised all four kids here and don't look to move anytime soon. My laundry room is so extremely small, not much bigger than a closet but a little bit bigger. And we have an extra refrigerator, upright freezer and the hot water heater in this little 8.5 x 8.5 ft room. Here are the "before" pictures.

Hopefully by this time next week we will be just about finished. We are going to install a new floor this week with all of the painting, pedestal building and shelving to come on the weekend.

Traveling Tuesdays

Already time for another trip and another linking to Whistle Stop Cooking for Sandi's Traveling Tuesdays. Don't you just love to travel? Well, apparently we do or we wouldn't keep going on these trips. For our trip this Tuesday, let's take a look out West, all the way to Yellowstone National Park. This is one of those places I never dreamed I would ever get to see. We didn't really see a lot of animals but we were OK with that. This is the cabin we stayed in in Cody, Wyoming at Cody's Cowboy Village. There was a nightly rodeo right next to it but yet far enough away that we didn't really hear them at night.
This was our first glimpse of the animals in Yellowstone National Park. This guy was in no hurry to get to wherever he was going and he was not a bit concerned of the line of traffic back up behind him.I didn't know there were canyons like this in the park. Giant waterfalls and such gorgeous scenery. Wow, God really knows how to decorate.

The water in this hole was very hot and lots of sulpher. Some of the holes had a rust-like stain around them.
And fnally...Old Faithful. Wow! There are no words to decscribe this scene.

Traveling Tuesdays

I am loving Sandi's Traveling Tuesdays over at Whistle Stop Cooking. This is so much fun to see where everyone is going and I love to travel. Another thing I love to do is shop for junk. A great place to do that is in Canton, Texas at the First Monday Trade Days. Several years ago, my sister, a couple of her daughters, my daughters and daughter-in-law all made the trip to Canton. What an experience...from staying in a Christian campground dorm to no cell phone usage because of the enormous crowds to the coolest stuff you have ever seen. We really had a great time except for a couple of us who had a really yucky bathroom experience but that's for another time.
Yes we had a newborn baby with us.
                           Sign where we stayed.

                                 Lots of shopping done.

                                  Tons of cute shops

Junkin'

Wow, the weekend sure went by fast but then they usually do. My oldest daughter came down and we went junkin' with my niece. Those two girls are so much fun to do that with. Actually we went to the "Bargains Galore on 64" garage sales. This was the last day so lots of people were marking things down and making some really good deals. We kept saying OK we're finished and then just down the road we would see another sale that looked good so we just kept going and going and going until we finally ended up in Ozark. We finally decided to head back home especially since the car was full and the trailer we were pulling was pretty much full. This isn't all we found but here is a look at some of our treasures we found. These items will be painted and repurposed. I can't wait to see what the girls come up with.

Traveling Tuesdays

I love that Sandi at Whistle Stop Cafe hosts this Traveling Tuesdays mainly because I love to travel. One of my all time favorite places to go is New York City. Several years ago, my oldest daughter talked me into going (I really didn't have any interest in going but...) to NYC. I absolutely loved it. I don't think I could live there but love going. There is so much energy there. We have since returned at Christmas last year and it was wonderful. Cold but wonderful.  I hope to go back but this time I want to go in the fall.
There is Carmine's, a fabulous place to eat...the Christmas tree...Grand Central Station...and what would a trip to NYC be without Matt Lauer.

HOT, HOT, HOT

**HOTTEST ALL-TIME TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED IN FORT SMITH AT 115**
I have never in my lifetime seen temps this high unless I was out west in the desert. This is just absolutely crazy. AND we have had so many fires very close to home. Mainly grass fires but there have been some homes destroyed. Our poor firemen are working so hard and in this heat. I don't know how they do it. We have had one fire here in our town that has been burning off and on for almost a week now and there have been firemen or the forestry service there 24/7. When you go outside you can just feel the sun cooking you. We have had somewhere over 35 days of over 100 degree weather straight. Please dear God, we need some slow drenching rains!

Another Beach

AHhhh! Another beach. I am again joining Sandi at whistle stop cooking   for another trip. Don't you just love to travel. Especially if it is a beach. This beach is in Cancun, Mexico. My husband and I and four friends took a vacation together several years ago to Cancun. It was wonderful. The water was an incredible color, I really couldn't describe it. One of those you just have to be there kind of things. Even these pictures don't do it justice.
