David Wilkerson

A great man of God got to meet Jesus today. David Wilkerson has been an influence in my life and my husband's life since we were in our very early twenties. The movie "The Cross and The Switchblade" was the first movie my husband ever saw in a movie theater which protrayed Rev. Wilkerson's ministry in New York City and he has been a hero of sorts to Gary ever since. In our early days of ministry, Gary and I brought in many Christian music artists for concerts and conferences. One of the conferences we sponsored was with David Wilkerson and Dallas Holm. It was amazing. Something Gary nor I have never forgotten. Rev. Wilkerson passed away this afternoon in Texas. He was killed in a car accident. I pray for his wife who is in critical condition and for his family. Gwen, his wife, has faced so much in her life with all of the bouts with cancer and I know she will face this with God's grace as well. Jesus, cover this family with your love, with your grace and with your mercies. Love them, embrace them and comfort them.

Easter Sunday activities

We had such a great service in church yesterday. God is really blessing our church, we even had a mini message from Pastor Ridings in Israel, also great music and preaching. After church we went to my baby sister's house for lunch and for our annual Easter egg hunt. I thought it was going to be just Noah hunting eggs but Kylah got to come and so did my niece's children. It has been so rainy here that everything is pretty muddy but the rain held off long enough yesterday for the adults to hide the eggs and the kids to hunt them. My sister always has a prize in some of the eggs like a penny that the kids trade in to get to go through a large Easter basket filled with all manner of goodies, stuffed animals and other toys. That is more fun than hunting the eggs. Just as the kids finished picking out their prizes from the basket it started raining again. And it rained and stormed until late last night.

Rain, rain and more rain

It has been raining and storming for over a week now and tonight has been the worst as far as the rain. I think we have gotten over three inches in the last three or four hours. The fields are flooded, the creek by the house is higher than I think I have ever seen it. AND more is coming during the night and the next couple of days. We needed the rain but really...I think enough is enough. By the time our yard dries out enough to mow, we may have to get it baled for hay first. Where's Noah's ark when you need it.

Fun Times

Last weekend, the hubs and I took our youngest grandson and went to our daughter's house. She already had the oldest grandson with her because they were doing a wagon pull collecting change for the March of Dimes at her office building. We had such a good time. We played with the boys, took Noah with me and Jenny to the Herb Festival which was really awesome, Jonah fell asleep before we left. I love going to festivals like this in the downtown area of small towns. There were tons of plants and flowers, lots of good stuff to eat and even some arts and crafts which I always love. Later we played outside on the swingset that Jenny built for the boys. She is so talented. Noah was sliding with his Jesse and Woody characters and Jonah was swinging. It was just a great day of playing wth the boys and not really having any kind of schedule. Plus this must have been the weekend for everything Buzz or Woody.

New/old cabinet

Well, the weather has finally started cooperating so that I can get outside and finish and start my painting projects. I started painting on this little chest of drawers back in the fall but it has been so rainy, windy or cold that I never finished it until this weekend. Finally!!!! There were the stripping of many layers of paint, sanding, priming, sanding, painting, painting, sanding, more painting, distressing and finally sealing. I attached new and very cute pulls on the drawers. I think it really turned out cute and now it is ready to go to my booth to sell. WooHoo. I am linking to Between Naps on the Porch  and the creative crate. Check them out for other great ideas.

Nesting

For the last several months, we have been watching a beautiful bald Eagle's nest in the field right behind our house. It is huge. I have never seen a bird's nest anywhere close to that large. With our binoculars (thanks Pam and Tim) we can see the mama and daddy Eagle taking turns sitting on the nest. They are simply gorgeous, regal and awesomely amazing. We have had quite a few people stopping along the road to take pictures and just watch this new family. Well, we aren't the only ones that have an Eagle's nest close to them. I'm sure you have heard of the Eagle's nest in Iowa that you can watch LIVE online. I have watched it and been so touched watching this mother bird taking care of her young, while they weren't hatched and now as they are hatching. Absolutely amazing watching God's creations. The bald Eagle is truly a regal bird. I can't tell you how inspiring it is to watch her fluff her nest, constantly hovering over her babies and now to watch her feed them. How like baby birds we are. God is constantly fluffing our nest, hovering over us, protecting us, feeding us both physically and spiritually. You have to see this for yourselves. Here is the link to see this truly awesome event of God's love.  Bald Eagle's nest
